What are Marble Scratches?

All of us are tempted by the installation of marble in our home. There are many reasons for it but the most important of these are their smooth, shiny surface, and the security that they provide. In comparison to other types of surfaces, marble is more secure and easily stands for any exertions or strain. But the problem with it is scratches which ruin its beautiful surface. Scratched marble not only looks bad in appearance but feels the same as well.

Thus, if acid is splashed on marble surfaces, either accidentally or intently, it harms the surface. If acid is used on countertops, then it makes the surface dull and there is evident damage seen. There are other organic products as well which are acidic and harm the kitchen countertop surface.

These include lemon, vinegar, soda, tomato sauce, etc. which have acidic pH. So, the proper procedure to protect the countertop from these products is the use of some mats while using these materials. It will save the surface from scratches. The effect of acidic products is evident on marble because it not only harms the surface but the stone core as well.

Even if in some cases spills happen, ensure that they are cleaned in time. This will decrease the amount of possible damage. There are different cleaners available for marble surfaces. So, if they are used regularly, there would be the least chances of scratches on the surface.

How to fix scratched marble? This is a difficult question because not every sort of damage can be repaired. The severity of the damage determines if the scratched surface is reparable. Marble scratch repair, if possible, comprises the proper procedure to ensure that the surface looks the same.

The first step for marble scratch repair is the cleaning of the surface. It is usually done by using warm water and dish soap to ensure that dirt on the surface has been removed. Then that washed area is cleaned with a damp cloth. After that, you will have to use another cloth to rinse the surface that has been cleaned. Then a soft cloth should be used for buffing of the surface which should be done in a circular manner.
